Performance-Based Assessment

Performance-based assessment is currently being piloted by four career and technical education programs in Mississippi, including Early Childhood Education, Polymer Science, Simulation & Animation Design and Teacher Academy.  The pilot program is overseen by the Mississippi Department of Education and the Mississippi Assessment Center.

Performance-based assessment, like all MS-CPAS2 assessments, is designed to measure students' mastery of the competencies in their curricula.  In performance-based assessment, students will encounter work-based scenarios similar to challenges they may face in the "real world," providing instructors and outside evaluators a unique opportunity to see how students would perform in their actual fields.
