IC3

IC³ Resources

The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³) is a digital literacy exam that covers basic computing, internet knowledge, and skills for national credentials. Successful completion of IC³ demonstrates that you have the knowledge and skills required for basic use of computer hardware, software, networks, and the Internet.

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) has adopted this certification as a requirement in several licensure-endorsement areas. Please contact MDE to verify whether IC³ is required for your specific licensure.

The IC³ exam is created by Certiport, a business of NCS Pearson, Inc. It is available in several versions, but Global Standards 5 (GS5) is the acceptable version for the MDE licensure requirements.

Please visit Certiport for more information about the specific content covered in the versions.

The registration process includes selecting a testing center, purchasing vouchers, and scheduling the exam. How to purchase the voucher depends on the testing location. Follow these steps to begin the registration process:

  1. Visit IC3 Testing Centers to determine which Certiport Authorized Testing Center (CATC) is closest to your location.
  2. If you choose to test with the Research and Curriculum Unit (RCU) here at Mississippi State University, visit the RCU GoSignMeUp page to purchase test vouchers by searching for IC3 Digital Literacy Exam. Then contact Altonique Binion at altonique.binion@rcu.msstate.edu to schedule a testing date.
  3. If you choose to test with any other CATC, visit certiport.com to purchase the vouchers, then contact the CATC representative to schedule an exam date. (Note: The RCU has no affiliation with any other testing center.)
