The Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) approved a waiver request for determining Tech Master Scholars for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The waiver only applies to the class of 2020 and includes the following provisions:
The number of hours required was reduced to 30.
Career Planning and Assessment System (CPAS)
A CPAS Year 2 score is not required, however, students must earn a passing score on CPAS Year 1 or an industry credential.
The attendance calculation may be based on where a student stood prior to school closure.
This requirement is waived for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The ACT requirement still stands at 18, but districts can continue to award the Tech Master Scholar designation throughout the summer, meaning June ACT scores can be considered.
Schools can send Tech Master Scholar award orders to MEC Senior Vice President for Foundations Vickie Powell (firstname.lastname@example.org), and she will mail certificates and medallions to districts.
