NIMS

NIMS

The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) is the premier standards and certification body for the metalworking industry in the United States. Established to support a globally competitive manufacturing workforce, NIMS credentials validate the skills of individuals in machining, metalforming, industrial maintenance, additive manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies. NIMS certifications are earned through a combination of hands-on performance evaluations and theory-based exams, ensuring candidates demonstrate both practical ability and technical knowledge. These credentials are recognized nationwide and are used by employers, educators, and workforce development programs to assess job readiness and promote career advancement.

The most recent list of approved national certifications is available on the State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB) website.
